It took a while to establish that Catfish is probably best at five furlongs, even though she won over six on her juvenile debut on the stiff July course. She started at a mile, reducing by a furlong at a time and she won well, making all over six at Leicester. However, it was her excellent finale win in a competitive Goodwood handicap at the Glorious meeting that showed her in her element. Down to the minimum, Catfish came through to beat a fast field in style, bringing her tally to three wins in just nine career starts. She will now be aimed at Listed races and as she copes well with undulating courses, Bath’s Lansdowne Stakes in April looks the right starting point.
